Welcome to my new website

I've spent the last two days figuring out WordPress.

This is the first post for my new website. I’m making a transition from adjunct journalism and English instructor, which I have been doing since August 2007, to freelance multimedia journalist, which I hope to do far into the future. I’ve been spending a lot of time the last couple days setting up my website, working on business cards, making to-do lists, etc.

In the last week, I’ve stepped down as the Program Director for Evening Eclectic at 90.7 KFSR. I only held the volunteer position for six months, but I had a great time and I feel that I left the position in better shape than it was when I started. I’ll still continue hosting my weekly show on Evening Eclectic, every Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Pacific.

I’m finishing up my teaching commitments for the spring semester at Fresno City College and at College of the Sequoias in Visalia. I’m tentatively on the books to teach one section of Journ 1 at Fresno City in the fall, but I won’t be returning to COS. I’ve also let my adjunct status lapse at Heald College, where I taught for two quarters last fall. I’m slowly saying so-long to teaching for now. It’s time to move on!

This week, I’m starting as an intern in the Central Valley Bureau of KQED Public Radio, working with the terrific NPR reporter Sasha Khokha. I hope to become a freelance reporter for KQED after the internship is complete. Finally, I’ve started writing again for the local citizen media website FresnoFamous.com, where I’ll be reviewing new local music every other week or so. I previously wrote for the site from 2005-2007.

Lots of other great new developments in the works. Stay tuned!
